The Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) is Canada's standard for measuring English language ability. It has 12 levels (1-12). Most Canadian immigration programs require CLB 7 for skilled worker programs and CLB 5 for some trade programs.

CLB 7 (IELTS 6.5): Minimum for Federal Skilled Worker Program and most professional-level immigration programs.
CLB 8 (IELTS 7.0): Significantly improves your CRS score in Express Entry, opening more invitation opportunities.
CLB 9 (IELTS 7.5): Activates "Skill Transferability" bonuses, adding up to 50 CRS points in some categories.
CLB 5-6: Minimum for Federal Skilled Trades and some provincial programs.
