Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I don't find a job in 12 months?

You can apply for a 24-month extension if you can prove that you have been actively searching for a job, have sufficient funds for the extended period, and have health insurance coverage. The extension is granted at the discretion of the immigration office.

Can I switch jobs after finding one?

Yes! Once you convert to a work visa or EU Blue Card, you can change employers. For EU Blue Card holders, after 12 months (or 2 years without Blue Card), you can switch jobs without additional permission.

Is German language mandatory?

For Pathway 1 (Skilled Workers Route), no language proof is mandatory. For Pathway 2 (Points-Based), you need either A1 German OR B2 English minimum. Higher German levels (B1/B2) give more points in the points system.

What kind of part-time work can I do?

You can work up to 20 hours per week in ANY job - it doesn't have to be related to your profession. This allows you to work in retail, hospitality, delivery services, etc. while searching for a job in your field.

How do I check if my degree is recognized?

Use the anabin database (anabin.kmk.org) to check your degree recognition status. Indian degrees are generally well-recognized. If your degree shows "H+" status, it's equivalent to a German degree. We can help you with the recognition process.
