Who is a Specialist?

A Specialist is defined as a person arriving in Finland to perform work demanding special expertise. This is one of Finland's most prestigious work permit categories, designed to attract top global talent.

Higher Education

You must hold a higher education degree (Bachelor's or Master's) relevant to your field of work.

Proven Expertise

OR have at least 5 years of professional experience in a field requiring high-level specialized skills.

Salary Threshold (2025)

Your gross monthly salary must be at least €3,827 (excluding fringe benefits and bonuses).

The Fast Track Service

The Specialist permit is eligible for Finland's exclusive Fast Track service, designed for experts and startup growth entrepreneurs. This premium service ensures rapid processing.

Processing Time: 14 days or less from complete application.
Family Members: Spouse and children can apply simultaneously and also use the fast track.
Electronic Application: Must apply via Enter Finland portal and pay fee online.
Employer Cooperation: Your employer must complete their part within 2 working days.

Application Process

Secure a Job Offer

Obtain a signed employment contract from a Finnish employer that meets the salary requirement (€3,827+ per month).

Submit Online Application

Apply via EnterFinland.fi portal. Select "Fast Track" option. Upload all required documents including degree certificates.

Prove Identity at VFS

Visit a VFS Global center or Finnish mission within 5 working days of submission for biometrics (fingerprints and photo).

Receive Decision

Get your decision in approximately 2 weeks. The residence permit card will be mailed to you or available for pickup.
